Nizhny Novgorod, colloquially shortened to Nizhny, formerly known as Gorky, is the administrative centre of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and the Volga Federal District. Some say it's a city with low self-esteem – gray, unsmiling, no-nonsense. More and more people believe though that it's the territory of opportunity! In the process of finding the city's identity it became clear that both residents and outsiders only have a vague idea of it's personality. What became apparent though is that an innovative spirit, the spirit of pioneers in science and technology has always been inherent in Nizhny Novgorod residents. It is a city of inventions, technology and creative people.

The task

The goal was to put the city of Nizhny Novgorod confidently on the map, attracting young people who want to get high-quality education and immediately apply the knowledge into practice. To attract tourists, investors and last but not least, to inspire the local population.

The solution

Nizhny Novgorod means: Thinking the Unthinkable. Field and desk research revealed a desire to go beyond, to discover new directions in science and industry throughout the moved history of the region. Today this is manifested in the advanced scientific and technical schools of the region and in its knowledge-intensive industry. This spirit has been interpreted in a very unique regional brand which allows maximum flexibility to work with a vast amount of media and messaging.
